Linares
Yesterday I drove through the small town of Linares, off Ruta 5 (the Pan-American Highway) in Chile - it was almost completely destroyed by the earthquake but what astonished me is how quickly and efficiently the Chileans are cleaning up and getting on with rebuilding. I don't think I have ever admired a country or its people this much.

Monkeys
Today I spent fifteen minuted berating a universal power adapter that I had only recently bought for suddenly ceasing to operate. Harris, a good friend I am staying with in Chile casually asked what position the on/off switch was in.
There are many, many days that I wonder if I don't share a little more DNA with monkeys than most...
